Stablecoin payments on Solana

Solana’s pitch for payments is straightforward: it is fast and it is cheap, by margins large enough to change what is worth paying for on-chain.

Where the speed genuinely matters

A merchant checkout with a price-lock countdown is the clearest case. On Solana the transfer confirms before you have finished reading the confirmation screen, which eliminates an entire category of checkout anxiety and re-quoting.

The low fee opens up small payments. A two-dollar top-up is a rounding error in fees on Solana and uneconomic on most alternatives. Several AI and developer platforms accept Solana specifically for that reason.

Where it is accepted, and how (September 2026)

We went looking specifically for merchants taking USDC on Solana. The honest summary is that the network’s payment story is strongest where the merchant is itself part of the Solana ecosystem, and otherwise arrives through the same gateways that carry every other chain.

Merchants that name Solana. Helius, the RPC provider, states that “all crypto payments are made in USDC on Solana” and pulls renewals from your wallet through the Solana Foundation’s open-source Subscriptions Program — a recurring stablecoin payment, which nothing else in the directory offers. Solana Mobile sells the Seeker phone for “SKR or stablecoins through Solana Pay”, settled in USDC through Helio’s Shopify plugin. The AI merchants Venice and NanoGPT list Solana for exactly the small-top-up reason above, and the gift card platforms Bitrefill, Coinsbee and CryptoRefills carry it alongside half a dozen other chains. Travala and Alternative Airlines name it for travel.

Gateway lists. BitPay, CoinGate, Stripe, Coinbase Business and NOWPayments all publish Solana among their USDC networks, so Newegg, Namecheap, Hostinger, Surfshark, Hostwinds, OpenRouter, AT&T and Vast.ai inherit it — the gateway named the network, the merchant did not, and most of those records carry a “may vary” badge for that reason.

In person. Flexa’s currency table lists USDC on Solana, which puts it at the till at Chipotle, Sheetz, Regal and Bealls, subject to what your wallet app offers.

What we did not find. The Solana Pay Shopify plugin has been available since 2023 and Helio, which runs it, has been folded into MoonPay Commerce; the stores using it that we could identify were ecosystem merch shops, and only Solana Mobile said so on its own site. Triple-A, which processes for FARFETCH, Eskimo and reportedly Trip.com, is reported to support Solana but does not enumerate its networks publicly, so those records carry no network at all. Solana Pay deals announced with Korean payment networks in 2026 were memoranda of understanding, not live acceptance, and are not listed.

A separate ecosystem

Solana is not Ethereum-compatible. Different addresses, different wallets, different tooling. If your crypto life has been entirely on Ethereum and its layer 2s, using Solana means installing a new wallet and funding it — a genuine friction cost, though a one-time one.

The token account model is the other unfamiliar piece. The first time your wallet receives a given token, a small amount of SOL is used to create an account for it. It is a fraction of a cent’s worth in practical terms, but it means a completely empty wallet cannot always receive a token successfully.

Reliability, stated fairly

Solana has had outages, most of them years ago now, and it is reasonable to have noticed. The network has been substantially more stable since, and the payment gateways that support it are not treating it as experimental.

For a payment you are making now and will see confirmed in two seconds, historical downtime is not a practical concern. It would be a more relevant consideration if you were building payment infrastructure on it, which is a different question than the one this directory answers.
