What the byline is accountable for

Three things, in descending order of importance. That every acceptance claim on the site is backed by a source a reader can open. That a record which turns out to be wrong is corrected or withdrawn rather than quietly softened. And that where something could not be established, the page says so instead of filling the gap with a plausible guess.

The mechanisms behind those commitments are described in our editorial policy and verification methodology. Several of them are enforced by the build rather than by good intentions: a merchant record claiming a stablecoin without a source will not compile, and a record resting only on third-party reporting cannot be marked verified.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, tell us. Accepted corrections are logged against the merchant record and appear publicly in What’s Changed, with the date and the evidence.
