Refunds

Prepaid credits are not refundable. Size a first top-up to what you will actually consume while evaluating.

Stablecoin refunds are outbound payments a merchant chooses to send, not automatic reversals. There is no chargeback.

OpenRouter is one of the clearest examples of stablecoin payment solving a real problem: developers who cannot reliably pay with a card buying metered API credit.

Why this works

A single endpoint across many models, billed as prepaid credit, sold to developers worldwide. Every part of that description points toward stablecoin payment being the sensible option rather than a gesture.

The customer is technical and already has a wallet. The billing unit is credit, so a prepaid balance is not a compromise. And the customer base includes a great many developers in countries where international card payments to US companies decline routinely.

Use a cheap network

Top-ups here are often ten or twenty dollars. Gas on Ethereum mainnet at a busy moment could be a noticeable fraction of that. Base settles the same payment for a fraction of a cent.

Credit is not refundable

Standard for the model. Start small while you evaluate, then top up in larger amounts once you know your consumption.
