Payment notes

Bealls' own press release of 20 October 2025 says the integration uses Flexa Payments to accept "over 99 digital currencies — including bitcoin, ether, and stablecoins like USDC — from more than 300 digital currency wallets", in store, across all three banners. From the customer's side that means opening a Flexa-enabled wallet and scanning at the register. Four days before the Bealls launch, Flexa announced that Base Pay — paying with USDC on Base from the Base app — had become a default checkout option across its merchant suite for in-person payments, which is why Base appears in the network list; Flexa's own currency table still lists USDC on Ethereum, Avalanche and Solana, and has not been updated to mention Base, so treat the Base route as "via Base Pay specifically" rather than "any Base wallet". Bealls settles in dollars through Flexa, so this is ordinary retail from the store's point of view: the same receipt, the same returns desk.

Refunds

Not documented for digital currency payments. Bealls' ordinary in-store returns policy applies to the goods; because Flexa settles to the retailer in its chosen payout currency, a refund is unlikely to come back as crypto.

Stablecoin refunds are outbound payments a merchant chooses to send, not automatic reversals. There is no chargeback.

A department store chain older than the Federal Reserve, taking USDC at the till. Bealls is the largest physical retail deployment in this directory by store count, and one of the few where the merchant itself said so in writing.

The merchant said it, which is rare

Flexa merchants normally publish nothing. Chipotle has never mentioned it; Sheetz left it to Flexa’s newsroom. Bealls issued its own release, on its own letterhead, naming USDC and quoting its chairman. That is the merchant speaking, which is why this record carries “merchant announcement” as a method even though bealls.com itself is silent.

The silence on the website matters in one respect: the integration is described as in-store, and nothing suggests a crypto option on bealls.com. Go to a store.

What you can pay with

Flexa’s table is the coin list, and Bealls’ release confirms the shape of it: “over 99 digital currencies — including bitcoin, ether, and stablecoins like USDC”. Intersected with what this directory tracks, that is USDC, DAI, EURC, GUSD and USDP. Not USDT; Flexa does not carry it.

Which of those you are actually offered depends on your wallet app, which is Flexa’s own caveat and the reason the status is “may vary” rather than verified.

Base, via Base Pay

Four days before Bealls went live, Flexa announced Base Pay as a default checkout option for all its merchants. That is USDC on Base, paid from the Base app with a passkey. Flexa’s currency table has not caught up — it still lists USDC on Ethereum, Avalanche and Solana — so the honest description is: Base works through Base Pay; whether a generic Base wallet is offered at the register is not documented. Crypto payment is confirmed, but the exact coin list is not fixed — it can depend on your country, the product, which checkout you reach, or which assets the merchant's payment gateway currently enables.

Two sources agree, one on each side of the relationship. Bealls Inc.'s own press release — datelined Bradenton, distributed by Business Wire and reproduced by the Manatee Chamber of Commerce with the company's press contact — announces the in-store Flexa integration across 660-plus stores, names USDC, and quotes the company's chairman and CEO. Flexa carries the same release in its newsroom. The remaining stablecoins and the Ethereum, Solana and Avalanche networks come from Flexa's published currency table, which states that a Flexa integration enables every supported currency; Base comes from Flexa's 16 October 2025 announcement that Base Pay is a default checkout option for all Flexa merchants in person and online. The status is "may vary" for the reason Flexa gives: a customer's wallet app restricts which currencies are actually offered. We could not find any mention of digital currency, crypto or Flexa on bealls.com, beallsflorida.com or beallsinc.com, and the release describes an in-store integration only, so the record says in store only.
