Payment notes
Two dated statements from the provider side describe this. Coinbase's announcement of 19 December 2024 says that "in collaboration with Coinbase Wallet and Flexa, Regal will accept USDC payments on Base" for "ticket and concession purchases in person at all Regal locations", and quotes Regal's marketing and sales manager. Flexa's announcement of 16 October 2025 that Base Pay is a default checkout option says a Base account holder "can checkout with a Flexa mini app using simple passkey confirmation and immediately transact at merchants like Chipotle, Sheetz, or Regal". So the route a customer takes is: open a Flexa-enabled wallet or the Base app at the counter, pay from a USDC balance on Base. The other stablecoins and networks follow from Flexa's currency table, which applies to every Flexa merchant; Flexa's table still lists USDC on Ethereum, Avalanche and Solana rather than Base, so Base is documented through Base Pay and Coinbase Wallet rather than through the general table. The 10% discount that launched the arrangement ran from 23 December 2024 to 6 January 2025 and is over.
Refunds
Not documented for digital currency payments. Regal's ordinary ticket refund and exchange rules apply; Flexa settles to the merchant in its chosen payout currency, so a refund is unlikely to return as crypto.
Stablecoin refunds are outbound payments a merchant chooses to send, not automatic reversals. There is no chargeback.
The first cinema in this directory, and one of the clearest cases of USDC on Base being spent in person rather than at a web checkout.
What happened, and when
In December 2024 Coinbase announced that, “in collaboration with Coinbase Wallet and Flexa, Regal will accept USDC payments on Base” for tickets and concessions at all its US theatres, with a 10% discount for two weeks over the holidays. The discount ended on 6 January 2025. The acceptance did not: in October 2025 Flexa listed Regal alongside Chipotle and Sheetz as a merchant where anyone with a Base account can “immediately transact” using Base Pay.
Regal itself has never put this on regmovies.com. Its marketing and sales manager is quoted in Coinbase’s post, which is as close as the merchant comes to saying it.
How to pay
At the counter, not in the app. Open a Flexa-enabled wallet or the Base app, pay from USDC on Base. Coinbase’s original walkthrough used Coinbase Wallet’s in-app browser at regal.flexa.co; Flexa’s later Base Pay integration replaces that with a passkey confirmation. Either way the theatre is paid in dollars and you get an ordinary receipt.
The coin list, and the caveat
Flexa’s currency table applies to every Flexa merchant, and intersected with the coins this directory tracks it gives USDC, DAI, EURC, GUSD and USDP — no USDT. The table lists USDC on Ethereum, Avalanche and Solana, not Base; the Base route is documented by Coinbase’s launch post and Flexa’s Base Pay announcement instead, which is why the record lists Base first and explains it. What you are actually offered depends on your wallet app, Flexa’s own caveat and the reason for the “may vary” badge.

Verification
Crypto payment is confirmed, but the exact coin list is not fixed — it can depend on your country, the product, which checkout you reach, or which assets the merchant's payment gateway currently enables.
Evidence comes from the two companies on the payment side and none from Regal's own domain. Coinbase's blog post of 19 December 2024 documents the launch — USDC on Base, in person, all Regal locations, tickets and concessions, built by Flexa — and carries a quote from Regal's marketing and sales manager, which is the merchant speaking, though not on its own site. The page blocks automated fetching, so we read it through the Internet Archive. Flexa's 16 October 2025 Base Pay announcement names Regal as a merchant where Base Pay transacts today, which is what establishes that acceptance outlasted the launch promotion. The wider stablecoin list and the Ethereum, Solana and Avalanche networks are Flexa's published currency table. We checked regmovies.com's homepage, FAQ and press pages and found no reference to crypto, USDC, digital currency or Flexa, which is why the status is "may vary" and why we say in person only. The location count is the "over 400" figure from Coinbase's post.
