Editorial Policy
What we publish, what we refuse to publish, and where the line sits between editorial and commercial.
Last updated
This site is a directory with a commercial model. That combination has a well-known failure mode, and this page describes how we intend to avoid it.
The line
Money can buy placement. Money cannot buy a factual claim.
A merchant can pay to appear at the top of a category, and the placement will be labelled. A merchant cannot pay to be described as accepting a stablecoin they do not accept, cannot pay for a verified badge they have not earned, and cannot pay to have a limitation removed from their profile.
If those two things ever come into conflict, the factual claim wins and we lose the revenue. That is the whole policy; everything below is detail.
Content standards
Everything we publish should be:
Original. Written for this site. Not spun, not aggregated, not assembled from other directories.
Fact-checked. Claims about merchants, coins, networks and providers are sourced. Merchant acceptance claims follow the verification methodology.
Useful to a person. Written to answer a question someone actually has, not to occupy a keyword.
Transparent about uncertainty. Where we do not know, we say so. “We have not verified this” is a sentence we are willing to publish, and we publish it often.
Maintained. Pages carry dates. Merchant listings carry verification dates. Out-of-date is a defect, not a state of nature.
What we do not publish
- Fabricated or unverified merchant acceptance presented as fact
- Fake reviews or ratings — we publish none, which is why you will find no review schema on this site
- Investment advice, price predictions, yield opportunities or anything resembling financial advice
- Mass-generated pages assembled from templates to occupy search results
- Content written to a word count rather than to a point
- Merchant wallet addresses, ever
Rankings
Where we compare or order things, the criteria are stated on the page. Across the site they are: stablecoin and network support, payment simplicity, geographic availability, published fees, payment provider quality, customer experience, and verification recency.
We do not publish a “best merchant” ranking driven by commercial relationships. Where a merchant or provider is placed prominently for commercial reasons, it is labelled Sponsored or Featured and appears as a placement rather than as an editorial judgement.
Sponsored content — an article paid for by a business — will be labelled as sponsored at the top of the page. We have not published any yet.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links are affiliate links. Where a page contains one, it carries a disclosure. Affiliate links are stored separately from a merchant’s canonical website in our data, so that the factual record of where a business lives is never entangled with a commercial link.
Commission rates play no part in what we list, how we describe it, or how we order it. See the affiliate disclosure.
Programmatic pages
We generate hub pages for stablecoins, categories, countries and networks from structured data. That is a legitimate technique and it is also how directories become content farms.
Our constraint: a hub page is indexable only if it clears a minimum number of qualifying merchants
and a minimum amount of hand-written page-specific prose. Pages that do not clear it render for
readers but carry noindex and are excluded from the sitemap.
We do not manufacture distinctions to create pages. There is no “USDC in Manchester for hosting” page, and there will not be one unless there are genuinely merchants and something worth saying.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and update the page date. Substantive corrections to guides are noted on the page.
Tell us about an error. We would rather hear it than leave it.
Who writes this
Content is produced by the StablecoinSpend editorial team. Merchant data is compiled and verified by editors following the methodology linked above. Where an individual author or reviewer is attributable, they are named on the page.
AI use
We use AI tooling in research and drafting, as most publishers now do. Everything published is reviewed by a person, and factual claims about merchants are checked against sources by a person.
We do not publish AI-generated content unreviewed, and we do not generate pages at scale to occupy search results. The whole design of this site’s indexing rules is an argument against doing that.
