Travel was one of the first industries to take crypto payments seriously, and it remains the category where stablecoins are easiest to spend. Online travel agencies settle in a currency that is not the customer's, they already handle cross-border payments, and their margins tolerate an extra payment rail. That combination means you can book a flight or a hotel with USDC or USDT today, usually through a checkout that quotes a locked price for ten to fifteen minutes while your transfer confirms. This hub lists the travel providers we track, what each one accepts, and the practical notes that matter — refund handling, price locks, and whether a booking is issued instantly or after a manual review.

Travel is the single best-supported category for stablecoin spending, for reasons that have more to do with how the industry works than with any enthusiasm for crypto.
Online travel agencies are intermediaries. They buy inventory in one currency and sell it in another, they already carry the operational machinery for cross-border settlement, and they compete hard enough on reach that adding a payment method is cheap relative to the customers it might win. Card acceptance in travel is also expensive and fraud-heavy, which makes an irreversible, low-chargeback rail genuinely attractive to the merchant rather than merely tolerable.
The typical flow is the same across providers. You choose your trip, pick a crypto payment option, and the gateway shows a quote — an amount of USDC or USDT, a destination address or QR code, and a countdown, usually ten to fifteen minutes. You send the transfer from your wallet or exchange account. Once the network confirms, the booking is issued.
Two details are worth attention. First, the price lock is a real constraint: if your transfer misses the window, most gateways re-quote rather than fail, but some cancel. Second, the network matters for speed — a Base or Solana transfer confirms well inside the window, while Ethereum mainnet during congestion occasionally does not.
The honest answer is: in specific situations, not universally. Stablecoins help when your card is issued somewhere the merchant’s acquirer distrusts, when foreign-transaction fees and a poor interbank rate would cost you two to three per cent, or when you hold the balance in stablecoins already and would otherwise pay a conversion spread to spend it.
They help less when you would benefit from card protections. A card chargeback is a genuine consumer remedy in a category full of cancellations and no-shows; a stablecoin transfer has no equivalent. That trade-off is the main reason to read a provider’s refund policy before booking a large trip.
