Dusit Thani Hotels

A hotel group in a directory of stablecoin merchants, on the word of a bank. That is exactly the evidence this record has, so it is worth being clear about what it does and does not establish.

What is documented

Al Maryah Community Bank operates the AEC Wallet, the app through which AE Coin — the UAE’s central-bank-licensed dirham token — is spent. Its merchants page lists Dusit Thani Hotels with a single sentence promising “a smooth and rewarding stay with AEC Wallet payments”. Dusit operates two UAE properties, in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

That is the whole of it. No press release, nothing on dusit.com, no statement of which property or which desk. We list it because a regulated bank naming its own merchant is the same kind of evidence that puts Chipotle and Sheetz here via Flexa — and we mark it “may vary” because it is one sentence from one side.

Who could actually use it

UAE residents with an Mbank account, in person. The AEC Wallet pays by QR code and can only be opened by a resident, so the realistic picture is settling a bill at reception rather than paying for a booking on the website. A traveller arriving from abroad with dollar stablecoins has no route here at all — AE Coin is the only asset, and it is pegged to the dirham.

Why list something this thin

Because the alternative is a directory that only knows about merchants who write blog posts, and the UAE’s stablecoin story is being told by its banks rather than its merchants. Every AE Coin merchant here except Air Arabia is documented by Mbank and silent on its own site. Recording that — with the gaps shown rather than filled — is more useful than pretending the ecosystem does not exist because it is documented from the wrong side.
