Ripple USD · issued by Ripple, via Standard Custody & Trust Company
Where can you spend RLUSD?
RLUSD is Ripple's dollar stablecoin, launched at the end of 2024 and issued by a New York-chartered trust company within the Ripple group. It is unusual in being native to the XRP Ledger as well as Ethereum, which gives it access to a settlement network built specifically for payments rather than general computation. Its stated focus is institutional and cross-border payment flows rather than consumer checkout, and merchant acceptance reflects that: direct acceptance at retail checkouts remains limited. Where RLUSD is most relevant to this directory is in payment infrastructure and business settlement rather than buying a VPN subscription.
Merchants accepting RLUSD
We do not yet have verified merchants accepting RLUSD in the directory. That is a statement about our coverage as much as about the market — if you know a business that accepts it, tell us . In the meantime, converting to USDC is the practical route to most merchants here.
RLUSD is built for a different job than most of the stablecoins in this directory, and that is worth saying plainly rather than treating it as a coin with disappointing merchant coverage.
An institutional payments instrument
The design brief is cross-border settlement between businesses and financial institutions, not consumers buying hosting. Issuance under a New York trust charter, monthly attestations and native availability on a purpose-built payments ledger are all choices aimed at institutions with compliance requirements.
Retail checkout acceptance was never the first target, and the coverage reflects that.
The XRP Ledger angle
Most stablecoins live on general-purpose smart contract platforms. RLUSD is also native to the XRP Ledger, which was built for payments specifically: settlement in seconds, fees measured in fractions of a cent, and issued-currency support built into the protocol rather than bolted on as a token standard.
For high-volume payment flows that architecture is a genuine advantage. For paying a merchant, it matters only if the merchant’s gateway supports the XRP Ledger — which fewer do than support Ethereum or Solana.
If you hold RLUSD and want to spend it
Check the merchant’s coin list first. Where RLUSD is not offered, swapping to USDC is routine on Ethereum and increasingly straightforward on the XRP Ledger’s built-in exchange. We would rather tell you that than pad this page with merchants we have not confirmed.
