Stablecoin payments on Avalanche
Avalanche's C-Chain is Ethereum-compatible and offers fast, inexpensive stablecoin transfers with notably quick finality — transactions are settled definitively in a second or two rather than probabilistically over several blocks. Both USDC and USDT are natively issued, and EURC is available. Payment gateway support is reasonable, though it sits below the leading layer 2s in merchant coverage. Where a merchant offers it, Avalanche is a perfectly practical way to pay, and the fast finality is genuinely useful for checkouts with short price-lock windows. Gateway support sits below the leading Ethereum layer 2s, so check the merchant's network list before bridging funds across specifically to spend them — arriving on a chain the merchant does not accept means paying to move again.

Why finality matters at a checkout
On most networks, a merchant’s gateway waits for some number of confirmations before releasing an order, because early confirmations can theoretically be reorganised away. The wait is a risk judgement, and it is why some checkouts sit spinning for a minute.
Avalanche’s consensus produces definitive finality quickly, so a gateway can act on a confirmed transaction immediately with no reorganisation risk to hedge against. In practice that means fast checkouts.
The C-Chain distinction
Avalanche is several chains. Stablecoins and payments live on the C-Chain, the Ethereum-compatible one. If your wallet or exchange offers a choice when withdrawing, C-Chain is the one you want. Sending to an X-Chain or P-Chain address by mistake is recoverable in some situations and not in others; avoid the situation.
