Europe ยท CHF
Switzerland has one of the longest-running and clearest regulatory frameworks for digital assets, and a genuine local ecosystem of businesses that accept them. For a Swiss consumer, that means both good access to the international merchants in this directory and a better-than-average chance of encountering domestic acceptance โ including, unusually, some public-sector payment options in particular cantons. Stablecoin acceptance is nonetheless dollar-denominated in the main, and Swiss payers hold USD/CHF exposure on any balance. EURC is occasionally useful with European merchants. Domestic acceptance is more common here than almost anywhere else, though still a minority of businesses, and it is genuinely difficult to catalogue from a distance. The listings below therefore concentrate on international platforms serving Swiss customers, with a note on where to look locally.
33 merchants available here
Switzerland is one of the few countries where domestic stablecoin acceptance is a real, if minority, phenomenon rather than a curiosity.
A clear regulatory framework arrived earlier here than almost anywhere, which gave businesses something to comply with rather than something to guess at. That produced a cluster of digital asset companies, and around them a set of merchants and service providers comfortable accepting payment in crypto assets.
The practical result for a resident is a better chance than average of finding domestic acceptance โ though still very much a minority of businesses.
Swiss francs are not a stablecoin denomination with meaningful merchant acceptance. A Swiss payer holding USDC holds dollars; holding EURC holds euros. Either way there is currency exposure that a franc-denominated bank balance would not have.
The sensible rule is the same as anywhere: match the coin to the price. A euro-priced European merchant is cheaper to pay in EURC. A dollar-priced international platform is cheaper to pay in USDC. Neither is cheaper than a franc account paying a franc price, which is simply not an option in this market yet.
Full access to the international merchants in this directory, plus a domestic layer that is worth checking locally โ it is not something a directory maintained at a distance can catalogue reliably.
These platforms accept customers worldwide, Switzerland included.
