hide.me's help-centre article on payment methods, last modified 18 August 2026, lists "Cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Solana, KuCoin Pay, * Tether, * USD Coin" and footnotes the two stablecoins: "Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC) are only supported via ERC20 (Ethereum Network)." That is a merchant naming coin and network in one sentence, and it is the important sentence: a wallet holding USDT on Tron or USDC on Base has nothing to send here without moving it first. On a monthly plan the Ethereum gas fee can be a noticeable share of the invoice; an annual or longer term amortises it. The pricing page repeats the coin list. The same article describes the subscription model — plans auto-renew unless cancelled — and the 30-day guarantee. Which processor presents the crypto invoice is not stated; hide.me says only that payments are handled by external providers and that it logs no payment information itself. We did not run a live checkout.

Stablecoin refunds are outbound payments a merchant chooses to send, not automatic reversals. There is no chargeback.

hide.me does the one thing most VPNs in this directory do not: it says which network its stablecoins run on. The answer is narrower than you might want, and it is worth knowing before you move any money.

What the merchant says

The help-centre article on payment methods lists eight cryptocurrencies, marks two of them with an asterisk, and explains the asterisk: “Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC) are only supported via ERC20 (Ethereum Network).” Solana appears in the list as a coin you can pay with, not as a network for the stablecoins. So if your Tether is on Tron — where most Tether is — you cannot pay hide.me with it directly.

What that costs

Ethereum mainnet gas is set by demand and unrelated to the amount you send. On a one-month plan it can be a meaningful fraction of the price; on a two-year plan it is noise. If you are paying this way, buy the longest term you are happy with. The Ethereum hub has the detail on fees and on keeping a little ETH in the wallet to pay them.

Subscription, refund, identity

hide.me sells subscriptions that renew automatically; to make a one-off crypto payment it tells you to cancel from the confirmation email afterwards. The 30-day guarantee is real and generous — no questions asked — but it is for a first order only and can be claimed once, and the article does not say whether a crypto refund comes back in crypto. Ask before relying on it. No identity check is documented, and the company says it logs no payment information; the payment itself is handled by an unnamed external provider.

hide.me's own help-centre article on payment methods names Tether and USD Coin and restricts both to ERC-20 on Ethereum, which is merchant documentation naming coin and network and carries a verified status without a live payment, which we did not make. The pricing page's FAQ repeats the coin list. The refund article supplies the guarantee terms and the legal page supplies the operating company — eVenture Ltd, Labuan company number LL09685, registered office in Labuan, Malaysia — which is why the country is recorded as MY. No payment processor is named anywhere we read, so none is asserted. hide.me's own site refused automated fetching of some help pages; the payment-methods and refund articles were read directly from hide.me.
