Payment notes

GAMIVO's own announcement confirms Tether was added as a payment method, and describes it correctly as a stablecoin chosen to avoid the rate swings that make paying for a game key in Bitcoin awkward. What GAMIVO does not do is publish a current, itemised payment page — its help centre says available methods depend on your region and chosen currency and are shown at the payment step. That is why this record is marked "may vary" rather than verified: the acceptance is real and merchant-stated, but whether it appears for you is not something the merchant commits to in advance. No network is published for USDT.

Refunds

Game keys are digital goods and GAMIVO's refund terms are restrictive once a code is revealed. A crypto payment adds no chargeback, so a disputed key is resolved through GAMIVO's own process or not at all.

Stablecoin refunds are outbound payments a merchant chooses to send, not automatic reversals. There is no chargeback.

GAMIVO is a marketplace rather than a shop. Third-party sellers list game keys, software licences and gift card codes; GAMIVO runs the platform, the escrow and the buyer-protection layer on top. Prices are frequently below official storefronts, which is the draw, and the tradeoff is the usual marketplace one about seller reliability.

Tether is there, but the checkout decides

The announcement is unambiguous and it is GAMIVO’s own: Tether was added in the last quarter of 2022, and the company’s CFO explained the choice in the obvious terms — a stablecoin does not move under you between adding a key to the basket and confirming payment, which Bitcoin very much can.

The complication is that GAMIVO does not publish a payment-methods page. Its help centre answers the question by saying that available methods depend on your region and your selected currency, and that you will see them at the payment step. For a marketplace operating across dozens of countries that is a defensible policy, but it means we cannot tell you that USDT will be there when you check out from where you are. Hence “payment availability may vary” on this record rather than “verified”.

Digital goods, irreversible payment

This combination deserves a moment’s thought. A game key is revealed instantly and is worthless once redeemed, so marketplace refund policies are necessarily tight — GAMIVO’s buyer protection covers a key that does not work, not a key you changed your mind about.

Layer an irreversible stablecoin payment on top and you have removed the last backstop. With a card, a genuinely fraudulent seller can be dealt with through your bank after GAMIVO’s process fails you. With USDT, GAMIVO’s process is the whole of your recourse.

For a €15 key that is a small and reasonable risk. For a bundle purchase running into three figures, the card is the more sensible instrument, and paying in stablecoins buys you nothing except the payment itself.

Kinguin is the closest comparison — same marketplace model, same region-dependent crypto availability, same absence of a published asset list.

Verification

Payment availability may vary Verified September 2026

Crypto payment is confirmed, but the exact coin list is not fixed — it can depend on your country, the product, which checkout you reach, or which assets the merchant's payment gateway currently enables.

GAMIVO published an announcement on its own domain stating that Tether had been added as a payment method in the last quarter of 2022, with its CFO explaining the choice in terms of stablecoin price stability. Independent coverage identifies ZondaCryptoPay as the processor. GAMIVO's help centre does not publish an itemised list of accepted payment methods, stating instead that available methods depend on region and currency and are displayed at checkout — so we cannot confirm the current state, and the record is marked "may vary" accordingly. No blockchain network is stated anywhere, so networks is empty.

  1. Added to directory

Added with "may vary" status: Tether acceptance is merchant-stated but GAMIVO does not publish a current itemised payment list.

  2. Stablecoin added

GAMIVO added Tether as a payment method in the fourth quarter of 2022, citing stablecoin price stability as the reason for choosing it over volatile assets.
