Payment notes
RackNerd's knowledge base lists USDT and USDC among accepted cryptocurrencies without stating the networks. Its own 2024 announcement of the Coinify integration is more specific, naming USDT on both ERC-20 and TRC-20 and describing support across Ethereum, Tron, Polygon and Solana. We list Ethereum and Tron because those are the two the merchant states explicitly for a stablecoin. Confirm the network shown in the Coinify checkout before you send — sending a TRC-20 token to an ERC-20 address loses the money permanently, and no support ticket will recover it.
Refunds
RackNerd operates a limited money-back window on some products. Crypto payments are not automatically reversible; refund handling should be confirmed with billing support.
Stablecoin refunds are outbound payments a merchant chooses to send, not automatic reversals. There is no chargeback.
RackNerd occupies a specific niche: very cheap VPS plans, sold hard, with a following in the low-end hosting community. Annual plans regularly land under twenty dollars. That price point is exactly where paying in stablecoins makes practical sense — the card processing overhead on a $15 annual invoice is proportionally large, and a stablecoin transfer on a cheap network costs almost nothing.
What the two sources actually say
This record is built on two RackNerd pages that do not quite agree in detail, which is worth being explicit about.
The knowledge base — the live, current document a customer would read — lists accepted cryptocurrency as “Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Ethereum, USDT, USDC”. Clear on the assets, silent on the networks.
The 2024 blog post announcing the Coinify integration is the opposite: it names USDT on ERC-20 and TRC-20 specifically and describes support spanning Ethereum, Tron, Polygon and Solana, but it is two years old and describes a launch state rather than today’s configuration.
We have listed Ethereum and Tron, the two networks the merchant names against a stablecoin, and left Polygon and Solana off. That is a deliberately conservative reading. Both may well work.
The network mistake that costs real money
Coinify’s checkout will show you a network and an address. USDT exists on both Ethereum and Tron, and the addresses look nothing alike, but people still manage to send TRC-20 tokens to an ERC-20 address by copying from the wrong exchange withdrawal screen. Funds sent to the wrong chain are gone. Not delayed — gone.
Read the network label in the checkout, then read the network selector in your wallet or exchange, and confirm they match before you press send. This is the single most common way people lose money paying a hosting bill in stablecoins, and it is entirely preventable.
Geographic limits
Coinify does not serve every jurisdiction. Residents of certain US states — New York and Alabama among them — and a number of countries are blocked from crypto payment at the gateway level. This is Coinify’s restriction rather than RackNerd’s, and it applies identically at other hosts using the same processor, Time4VPS included.
