Education that accept stablecoins

Education should be a natural stablecoin category: tuition is large, often international, and paid by families for whom a card surcharge or a correspondent-bank wire is real money. In practice it is one of the thinnest categories here, and this hub says so rather than padding it. Two providers name a stablecoin on their own pages — a US business university that takes USDC for tuition through Coinbase, and a developer bootcamp that discounts for USDC or USDT. Several well-known "we accept Bitcoin" universities take Bitcoin only, and most online course platforms take no crypto at all. The records are precise about who can pay, since a tuition account is not a shopping cart.

Every cell comes from the merchant's record. "Pairing not documented" means the merchant lists the coin and some networks but does not say which chain the coin runs on; confirm at checkout. Evidence dates are when an editor last read the merchant's own page.

Education is the category where the gap between “should accept stablecoins” and “does” is widest, and it is worth being precise about why.

Who takes what

Bentley University takes USDC for tuition through a Coinbase checkout, reached from a form that asks for the student’s name and ID; its 2022 launch named Bitcoin and Ethereum too, and its payment page today names USDC alone. RareSkills, at the other end of the scale, sells bootcamps priced around two thousand dollars and knocks 2% off for paying in USDC or USDT — which tells you what it thinks of card fees.

Who does not

The University of Nicosia, the usual first name in any article on crypto tuition, takes Bitcoin and only Bitcoin, by its own payment page. The King’s College in New York, another early adopter, has closed. ESMT Berlin and EU Business School, both once listed as Bitcoin-accepting, show no crypto option on the pages we could read. Wharton’s 2021 crypto-payable programme could not be found at its published address. And the platforms most people mean by “online courses” — Coursera, Udemy, Skillshare, MasterClass, Codecademy, Pluralsight — take cards, full stop; the stablecoin route to them is a gift card from Bitrefill or Genghis, where one is stocked.

What a record here means

A tuition payment is not a purchase from a shop. Bentley’s route requires a student ID and a Bentley bill; RareSkills admits by application and invoices afterwards. Neither publishes a network for the stablecoin, so in both cases the payment instructions are the only source for it. The hub will grow when providers publish their own pages; it will not grow by inference from a gateway’s marketing.

Education questions

Can I pay university tuition with USDC?
At Bentley University in Massachusetts, yes: its student accounts page says it has partnered with Coinbase to take payments in USDC, for enrolled students and their families. The University of Nicosia, often cited as the first university to take crypto, takes Bitcoin only, and its payment page says so. We found no other university naming a stablecoin.
Which courses or bootcamps take stablecoins?
RareSkills, which teaches advanced Solidity, zero-knowledge and Rust to working engineers, gives 2% off for paying in USDC or USDT. Crypto-native education is otherwise mostly free, and the large course platforms — Coursera, Udemy, Skillshare, MasterClass and their peers — do not take crypto directly; the route there is a gift card platform.
Why is this list so short?
Because universities that announced crypto payments in 2014–2022 mostly chose Bitcoin, and several have since removed the option or closed; because the big course platforms have card economics that work; and because a tuition payment needs a student ID attached, which does not fit a generic crypto checkout. We list what a provider's own page says today, and today that is two.
